Taking part in the global conversation about Sustainable Development
As Heads of State and Government gathered at the UN headquarters in New York to follow up on how companies are delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Jamiipay was present and took part in the conversation.
Represented by our CEO, Charlotte Rønje, Jamiipay took part in several high level events during the UNGA week in New York. Jamiipay had been invited for the “Winning Together: Sustainability in Action” an event celebrating companies delivering on the SDGs. The event was co-hosted by UN Global Compact, P4G, Women Deliver, The Permanent Mission to the UN of The Republic of Korea, Confederation of Danish Industry, SAP NextGen and The Consulate General of Denmark in New York. Key note speakers included former UN General Secretary, Ban Ki-moon, Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen and President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in.
The SDGs plays an important role in the work we do at Jamiiipay. Jamiipay was build around the SDG no 1 - No poverty, around empowering communities to escape poverty through financial inclusion. We see SDG no 5 - Gender Equality as a crucial enabler to reaching a world with no poverty and about 90% of our users are women most of them mothers. This is because women play a vital role in moving not only semselves but their entire family and community out of poverty.
It was exciting that so many competent organisations and people gathered through out the week to discuss the essential themes for delivering on the SDG goals. By sharing experiences and joining forces we can make some real impact, and Jamiipay is proud to have been invited to take part in this global conversation.
Among the participants that joined us in fruitful discussions was former general secretary in UN Ban Ki-moon, Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen, Katja CEO Women deliver, Anne Birgitte CEO plan International and President of the 73th session of the UN General Assembly, María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés.
